19th Annual Venture Capital and Private Equity Conference

Distinguished Guests:

Welcome to the 19th Annual Harvard Business School Venture Capital and Private Equity Conference, one of the largest and most anticipated student-run conferences on campus. Each year, hundreds of students, alumni, faculty, and industry professionals gather to share knowledge and experience. By bringing together a diverse group of talented individuals, the HBS Venture Capital and Private Equity Club hopes to initiate a broad range of debates about the key trends affecting the industry today and into the future.

Our theme this year, "Navigating Change, Discovering Value," channels our thoughts on uncovering future opportunities in an uncertain economic climate, reflecting both the scale of impact of developed economies, and an increasing focus on emerging opportunities. Our hope is that the conference's keynotes, dynamic panels, and interactive networking sessions will spark productive dialogue and provide a setting for professional networks to grow.

We are thrilled to welcome three of the leaders shaping the future of private equity and venture capital as our keynote speakers this year: Leon Black, Joel Cutler, and Steve Pagliuca. We greatly appreciate their time and look forward to learning from their insights on both the current and future state of the industry.

We are also excited to welcome over 100 panelists and moderators who will exchange ideas and present their perspectives throughout the conference's 20 panel discussions. The panels address a range of today's most relevant topics, from operational value creation, through energy investing, to geography specific investment opportunities. We are extremely grateful to the panelists, moderators, and panel organizers for making this conference a truly comprehensive overview of the topics in private equity and venture capital.

Without the generous support of our Platinum Sponsors, Ernst & Young, Goodwin Procter, and Kirkland & Ellis, this conference would not be so successful. Their thought leadership exemplifies the spirit of our conference, and their substantial network is integral to making this weekend such a valuable opportunity to build relationships.

We wish to extend a special thanks to the Harvard Business School faculty and staff for their support and dedication in creating this event. The conference is the culmination of months of planning by the Conference Executive Committee and many team members, all of whom contributed large amounts of personal time to help ensure the conference's success. We hope you enjoy the conference, and leave feeling more informed, more connected, and more excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.
